The Sertão will turn into sea
Sea, scrub, oil and salt are in the Costa Blanca.
Located in Natal west, on the border with Ceará, the White Polo coast is marked by a freak of nature: on the one hand, you will come across the savanna vegetation, filled with xique-xiques and Juremas. On the other, the scene is composed by the sea, multi-colored dunes, cliffs and kilometers of almost deserted beaches.
The countryside meets the sea. Goats and donkeys are seen in large coves of open beaches. It is in the Costa Blanca which is located Lajedo Site of Soledad, a hidden archaeological park in the municipality of Apodi. The set of limestone preserved for thousands of years a multitude of animal fossils from the Ice Age and inscriptions.
The adventure begins at the Museum of Solitude in the eponymous district, where there are photos, explanatory panels and fossils. From there out guided tours of the Lajedo. The Tour lasts between one and two hours and circulates three areas: macaws, with the highest concentration of pictures; Vulture, which are small caves of dark rocks; and Eye-d'Água with natural pool in the rainy season and fossils - mostly of giant sloths.
Also it worth to visit the Ecological Park Cabugi, between the towns of Ferdinand and Angicos, created to protect one of the rare remnants of volcanic activity of the country, the Pico Cabugi.
The geography of this Polo enables trails and adventure activities with cars, especially the type 4x4. The water sports are also popular by the constant presence of winds. This is the case of São Miguel do Gostoso. The beach attracts many people who either seek tranquility, as the practice of windsurfing and kitsurf.
This Polo is also Macau, known for his monumental sea salt pyramids and beautiful beaches. In Natal, the second largest county in the state, is inserted the main port for oil extraction in the land of Brazil. Affectionately known as "the land of sun, salt and oil", the city also has large salt marshes and the "Mossoro Junina City".
The first record of ownership of the Portuguese on the Brazilian coast is stamped into Bulls municipality. Dating back to 1501, the Bulls milestone is a National Heritage Site. One of the main beaches in the state, Bulls is on the corner of Brazil.
To continue enjoying the coast, the choice is then to Areia Branca, just over 50 kilometers from Natal, near the border with Ceará. The landscape meets scrub, sand dunes and salt, cliffs and waterfront. On the beach of Ponta do Mel the scenario becomes even a rustic lighthouse and a totally forgotten village in time; while on the beach of Rosado dunes change color throughout the day. The beautiful beaches of roosters and Galinhos also part of the Polo Costa Blanca.
