Barreira do Inferno
Natal, the "Space Capital".
In addition to launching rockets, Barreira do Inferno announces the construction of a Culture Space Center.
The amazing world of research space will be presented at the Space Cultural Center, currently under construction in one of the main tourist areas of Natal. The space will show the history and current activities of the Barreira do Inferno Launch Center and the Brazilian space program. Besides the exhibition, there will also be a central tourist information. The proposal is basically show a rich collection of photos and facilities to enable the visitor to understand the importance of research and all resources used at work.
The Space Culture Center will be built in the military the Blasted Lands, the Ruta del Sol, via linking the Ponta Negra neighborhood to the south coast beaches such as Cotovelo, Pirangi, Búzios, Tabatinga Bar, Camurupim and Barreta, plus Pipa and Barra do Cunhaú (the last two by cars 4x4). It is a tourist axis movement has all year, especially during the summer.
In the 60s, Natal earned the nickname "Space Capital of Brazil" due to the pioneering Blasted Lands in rocket launches for unmanned experiences, especially in weather area. With the transfer of activities to the base of Alcântara, Maranhão, the target was gradually losing this interesting "business card".
After the recent return of the Blasted Lands to space research, Natal came again the world space map. The construction happens at a time when the Blasted Lands - which for centuries was named browsers, which surprised with the redness of its cliffs - is more active than ever. Two rockets were fired in recent months, through cooperative programs between Brazil and European agencies, and five other releases should happen in the next two years.
