Barreira do Inferno: Space base
Natal the "Space Capital".
Apart from launching rockets, Barreira do Inferno announces the construction of a Centre of Culture Space.
The amazing world of space research will be presented at the Center for Space Culture, currently building a major tourist corridors in Natal. The space will showcase the history and current activities of Launch Center Barreira do Inferno and the Brazilian space program. Besides the exhibition, there will also be a central tourist information. The proposal is basically to show a rich collection of photographs and equipment that allow the visitor to understand the importance of research and all the resources used in the work.
The Culture Space Center will be constructed in the military area of the Blasted Lands, the Ruta del Sol, via linking the district of Ponta Negra beaches of the South Coast, as Elbow, Pirangi, Buzios, Barra de Tabatinga, Camurupim and Barreta, plus Pipa and Bar Cunhaú (the last two via 4x4 cars). It is a tourist hub that has movement all year, especially during the summer.
In the 60s, Natal earned the nickname "Space Capital of Brazil" due to the pioneering spirit of the Blasted in launching rockets for unmanned experiences, especially in meteorological area. With the transfer of activities to the base of Alcantara, Maranhao, the target was gradually losing that interesting "business card".
After the recent return of the Blasted Lands to space research, Natal came again in the worldwide space map. The construction comes at a time when the Barreira do Inferno - which for centuries was named browsers, which surprised with the redness of its cliffs - is more active than ever. Two rockets were launched in recent months, through cooperative programs between Brazil and European agencies, and five other releases should happen in the next two years.
